Center for Plain Language grants ClearMark Award for Unum.com, also praises health care reform roadmap

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Unum has been honored by the Center for Plain Language with a ClearMark Award for best private website. This is the third consecutive year the company has been recognized for simple and effective communications with clients and customers.

The newly redesigned Unum.com launched in 2013 to bring a more modern, intuitive experience to the company’s sales partners, client employer groups and their employees. “I never thought I’d call an insurance company site compelling. But that’s just what Unum’s is,” said one judge.

The company also received an Award of Distinction for “A health care reform roadmap: Key steps and strategies for 2013 and beyond.” This roadmap digs into the Affordable Care Act to help employers understand their new responsibilities under the law. It includes a pullout timeline for employers to keep track of key dates and deadlines over the next five years.

In 2013, Unum was recognized for GetBenefitSmart.com, a simple and interactive website that helps consumers learn about a wide variety of employee benefits and insurance options. In 2012, Unum received a ClearMark Award for its guide on how to file a disability claim and what people can expect after submitting a claim.
