CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
In recognition of her contributions to the voluntary employee benefits
industry, Neiciee Durrence, vice president of Acquisition Strategies for
Unum (NYSE: UNM), has been selected to the International Worksite
Marketing Hall of Fame of the Workplace Benefits Association.
“Neiciee’s efforts, achievements, and leadership have helped the
industry grow to the place where voluntary benefit plans are viewed as
completely mainstream by employers, employees, and brokers,” said Walt
Podgurski, Publisher, Insurance Broadcasting and Workplace Benefits
Association. “The Worksite Marketing Association is pleased that she has
been selected by her industry peers to be recognized for her outstanding
career contributions to the voluntary benefits industry.”
Durrence will be inducted into the Hall of Fame in August at the
Workplace Benefits Mania 2011 in Chicago. Also selected for induction
this year is Louise J. Pantalone, executive vice president of Univers
Workplace Solutions.
“At no time in my career has there been more interest and opportunity in
voluntary benefits,” said Durrence. “It is a great honor to be
recognized by my peers in this rapidly evolving market.”
Durrence, who has been with Unum since 1984, has served in a variety of
roles within the company including sales, customer service, enrollment
services, product development and marketing. She has played a major role
in key strategic initiatives that have helped make Unum a leader in the
voluntary benefits market.
In 1993, Durrence led a team in creating the company’s first electronic
enrollment system, Plane.biz. This platform has become an industry
standard for voluntary benefits and remains the leading event-driven
enrollment and benefits education tool for brokers, employers and
employees. She also participated in the company’s expansion of its
voluntary worksite offerings and is currently leading a cross-functional
team in the development of an integrated business model designed to
promote growth and efficiency in serving mid-to-large case voluntary
customers.
Unum’s voluntary business has grown exponentially over the past decade.
Today the company is No. 2 in the market for new sales and inforce
premium, according to a recent Worksite Sales Report by Eastbridge
Consulting Group. Last year, Unum’s voluntary sales were up 16 percent,
and its voluntary business has tripled since 2001.
In addition to her role at Unum, Durrence has also been an active member
of various industry organizations, including Benefits Marketing
Association, VEBB, Mass Marketing Institute, and the LIMRA Worksite
Advisory Committee. She also frequently participates as a guest speaker
during industry events and has published articles in publications
